Amin leads machine learning and artificial intelligence best practice within the Exploration and Appraisal team at BHP Petroleum. His research interests are in the areas of bio-inspired AI, transfer learning, physics-based machine learning and their applications at scales.
He strongly believes in integrating data science and business teams to create an ecosystem of cross- discipline alliances, as this drives more meaningful innovation and successful fit for purpose solutions.
Dr. Kayali received his M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge a M.S. and a Ph.D. in physics from Texas A&M University. Before coming to Oil & Gas, he was a research assistant professor at the University of Houston and Virginia Tech studying the neural underpinnings of social and economic decision making. In 2014, he moved to the energy sector where he worked for Lumina Technologies and Baker Hughes before taking on his current role at BHP."
